On 23 October, the EUROCONTROL Experimental Centre (EEC) hosted, in partnership with CASSIDIAN and Graffica, a demonstration of the SESAR Mission trajectory concept, as developped by DSS\CMAC EUROCONTROL Headquarter division.
Senior officers coming from more than 15 military operational and procurement branches, as well as representatives from NATO and EU military staff were presented new interfaces between:
- Mission Trajectorya military mission planning system,
- an airspace management support system (LARA developed by EUROCONTROL)
- and an ATC position (CIMACT display).
This event brought into focus the maturity of the “modular and cross-border military areas” concept and the benefit of sharing harmonised aeronautical, flight planning and flow management data at ATM Network level.
The SESAR Mission trajectory concept promotes the integration of military transit flight in civil traffic flows, and the sharing of ground infrastructures to better support civil and military ATM operations.
Participants were also invited to visit the EEC simulation facilities and to participate to future SESAR WP7 and WP11.1 validation exercises of specific relevance to the military community, such as the OAT flight plan.
The lively exchanges during and after the presentations and demonstration confirmed the growing interest of the military community. The EUROCONTROL civil-military ATM coordination Unit is now ready to run this demonstration for a wider audience.
