EDQ
The EUROCONTROL Data Quality tool for LARA (EDQ) allows tuning and downloading tailored datasets for the use in LARA and other systems. Local ASM Systems are required to maintain a database that is up-to-date and consistent with NM ENV data to enable interoperability. This is a prerequisite for the use of the NM B2B Services to exchange ASM Planning Data, namely Areas, Routes and restrictions.
The NM B2B Airspace Structure Service provides a set of files that contains all data for the ECAC area.
EDQ processes this file on a daily basis, filters and tailors the data required for local use and makes the files available for download. At the same time, EDQ will notify via email the relevant AMC in case changes to their dataset are identified. Access to EDQ is currently available at: edq.lara-eu.org. We are working on hosting the EDQ Servers within the NM infrastructure in the near future.
The data can be downloaded in AIXM5.1 or Excel format for further use. The LARA Housekeeper can import this dataset into LARA and process the changes to keep LARA’s database up-to-date with NM ENV.
EDQ provides as well an API via WebServices, that allow to tailor even more the access to Airspace data (e.g. simply querying a NM uuid for an airspace). Underlying Geoserver WMS and WFS also provide easy and graphical way to assess the published data.
The data from EDQ will also be usable in EUROCONTROL’s CIMACT (Civil-Military ATM Coordination Tool). This will ensure both systems are aligned when providing airspace activation information from LARA to CIMACT.
The full set of documentation for EDQ is available.
Software Development
LARA V3.1 was released at the end of 2018. First states are in the process of implementation of the new version. New features encompass system improvements, various usability enhancements and a package that is designed to add capabilities to LARA for the tactical phase of airspace management (FUA LEVEL 3).
A first workshop was held in February 2019 to look at the key functionalities required in LARA for the near future including enhancements required for continued interoperability with the next NM versions.
Part of this package will be an improved way of working with Flightplan Buffer Zones (FBZ), management of a National Airspace Use Plan, support to complex FUA Restrictions and more. The full spectrum of changes will be discussed at the upcoming LARA User Group on May 7th 2019 in Brussels.
Deployment Update
In Europe today, 14 countries are using LARA operationally, 13 countries are in the process of implementation, another 5 are considering the use in the future. Brazil and Australia have expressed their interest in using LARA.
